I don’t usually buy odd volumes, but these works of Oscar Wilde are special to me because they are from the scarce Ross Authorized set: Wilde aficionados will recognize this as Robbie Ross, a journalist, art critic, and dealer who was openly gay when homosexuality was still illegal in England and one of Wilde’s closest friends. He helped support him when everyone else deserted him following his arrest and imprisonment, and was there with Wilde in Paris when he died.
Of the 14 volumes, here are 2, which contain the plays A Woman of No Importance, Lady Windermere’s Fan, and The Importance of Being Earnest. Orange cloth covers with title plates on the spine. Condition is overall good with quite a bit of soiling to the spines.
