I was initially drawn to this box because it’s covered in velvet and my favorite color- but I got quite a surprise when I tried to pick it up! It weighs TEN POUNDS. The box was designed to be fire proof; beneath the velvet is thick, heavy metal. The box does have quite a bit of wear, as shown: Wear to the velvet, greening of the metal hardware, surface dirt, etc. The red silk interior has held up better. I LOVE the bird that the original owner painted inside the lid and the original, patent dated ribbon from the manufacturer. Box measures about 10 x 7 x 5. Offered at a low price as is.
