Sun prints can be thought of as a sort of early photography without a camera, and they can still be made today: Objects are arranged on a sheet of specially treated paper and left out in the sun. When the objects are removed and the paper rinsed, the paper will have darkened while the areas the objects covered remain white.
This particular piece dates to the late 19th to early 20th century and features a cross with various botanical specimens. Presented as found in its original frame. Excellent condition.
