Early Victorian fans are some of my favorite things to collect but it’s not often I find one I think is good enough to share! This one dates to around the 1860s with ribs and sticks made of pierced bone. The leaves are made from very unusual black paper embossed with a chinoiserie-style design. At the center is a hand colored scene depicting women getting music lessons.

Condition is good overall with a few issues, including an old repair to one stick and some minor splitting. These are easily repaired with a steady hand and archival glue, but alas I ran out of time this week. Sold at a lower price as is.
