Unusual, large format Victorian funeral photo depicting a memorial arrangement with a taxidermy dove perched upon “The Gates Ajar,” a popular symbol for the afterlife. I can’t quite make out the name on the card, but the central ribbon indicates the deceased was a railway employee. Presented as found in a 14” wooden frame, contemporary to the photo.
