Can you believe this comic book is nearly 100 years old? Dating to 1928 this rare humor periodical compiles risqué cartoons from various French publications, with captions in the original French with an English translation. The cartoons are both beautiful & hilarious, poking fun at flappers, garçonnes, & women’s liberation. 1920s fashions were such a radical reaction against the highly structured, modest looks of the Edwardian era. Suddenly: Sack shapes, dropped waists, minimal or no undergarments, short skirts; transparent fabrics. Sign me up!
Condition is good for its age with some flaking & cracking to the fragile newsprint around the edges and at the stapled spine. This mostly affects the covers. Chip at the bottom right corner. Some light foxing and age tanning.
