Charming, early 19th century metal box with a reverse painted glass scene embedded in the lid. It depicts Maion Carrée in Nîmes, France, one of the best preserved Roman temples in the region. The box was likely a Grand Tour souvenir, the sort that was available at the Palais Royal shops. Refer to photos for size & condition: Very good. Some minor signs of age on the box, but the glass is excellent, without the cracks or flaking that is typical of reverse painted glass this age.
