Walter Potter was an English Victorian taxidermist best known for his large scale, anthropomorphic dioramas. Anthropomorphism was all the rage in Victorian era literature and design; you do rarely find examples of taxidermy animals dressed as people or doing human activities, but no one’s imagination reached quite as far as Potter’s. He established a small museum in his home town of Bramber, Sussex to house his collection and dioramas, but sadly the museum closed in 2003 and the dioramas were sold individually at Bonham’s, now scattered to the 4 winds. I was fortunate enough to see The Kittens’ Wedding when it was on view at one of the last shows at the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, which has also since closed. Damien Hirst offered Bonham’s £1 million plus the cost of their catalog, in attempt to keep the collection together, but the auction house rejected this offer.

This listing is for a lot of 3 vintage postcards, souvenirs from the Bramber Museum. Condition is very good. Standard postcard size.

RETURN POLICY

All sales are FINAL. I strive to provide clear photos & accurate information for every item, & to anticipate any questions you may have. It is the buyer's responsibility to examine these photos clearly & read the description in full before purchasing. If you have any other questions or require further views, you've only to ask.

- No cancellations.

SHIPPING

- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.

Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. You can waive this insurance by ticking the box at checkout, but if you choose to do so, I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. I STRONGLY recommend using the Route service: UPS & USPS are notorious for denying claims, especially if a package is lost or stolen rather than broken. Route only requires you to fill out an online form & they pay out immediately without fuss. I make no money on any insurance premiums collected- The service is provided only for your benefit.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

- We are happy to ship worldwide once again! Be advised that there's no way for us to know on our end what your customs fees, if any, might be: Shopify doesn't calculate or charge international buyers for customs fees at checkout. Customers are responsible for being aware of and paying any necessary customs fees your country may charge. I am not responsible for packages abandoned at the post office due to unpaid fees.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

- I do not do "holds," reserves, or payment plans. However, if you need help with financing, many safe & easy options are available to you at checkout, including Shop Pay.
