This vintage brass paperweight depicts one of my favorite religious sculptures: The incorrupt body of St. Cecilia by Stefano Moderno in Rome. One of many Roman virgin martyrs, Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Supposedly, the church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere was built on the site of her original home. Pope Paschal I buried her purported remains there; they were exacavated, found to be incorrupt, and displayed in 1599 by Cardinal Paolo Emilio Sfondrari. The crowds who flocked to the church were so overwhelming, it wasn’t long before she was reburied, but Moderno carved this exquisite sculpture of her that I think we can all agree is much nicer to look at than a corpse.

SHIPPING
- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.
- Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. If you choose not to insure your order, I will not be held responsible for lost or stolen packages.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
- If you are outside the US & would like to purchase something, please message me to arrange payment either through Paypal invoice or through our Etsy outpost. I am not currently taking international orders on this website due to a problem with Shopify's shipping calculator.
