I was very inspired by the exhibition of hand painted tintypes few years ago at the MFA and I guess it took me all this time to find one I thought was as good. This full plate, Civil War-era portrait of a little girl is one of the saddest I have seen- Her downcast expression and loosely clasped hands really speak to me. I love the thick, wavy paint applied to the background; it really makes her pop. The dealer I got her from told me, “She was my baby. I’ve had her on the wall a long time.” I promised him I would find her a new home where she’s loved- If not with one of you, I’ll definitely keep and cherish her. Presented in the frame I found her in, which looks correct. No glass, as is typical for these photos: I strongly advise against putting her in glass so the paint doesn’t fuse with it over time.

RETURN POLICY
- All sales are FINAL. I strive to provide clear photos & accurate information for every item, & to anticipate any questions you may have. It is the buyer's responsibility to examine these photos clearly & read the description in full before purchasing. If you have any other questions or require further views, you've only to ask.
- No cancellations.
SHIPPING
- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.
Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. You can waive this insurance by ticking the box at checkout, but if you choose to do so, I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. I STRONGLY recommend using the Route service: UPS & USPS are notorious for denying claims, especially if a package is lost or stolen rather than broken. Route only requires you to fill out an online form & they pay out immediately without fuss. I make no money on any insurance premiums collected- The service is provided only for your benefit.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
- We are happy to ship worldwide once again! Be advised that there's no way for us to know on our end what your customs fees, if any, might be: Shopify doesn't calculate or charge international buyers for customs fees at checkout. Customers are responsible for being aware of and paying any necessary customs fees your country may charge. I am not responsible for packages abandoned at the post office due to unpaid fees.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- I do not do "holds," reserves, or payment plans. However, if you need help with financing, many safe & easy options are available to you at checkout, including Shop Pay.
