New England is such a happy place for tapophiles: Our cemetery monuments are uniquely beautiful. But if you aren’t from here or can’t get here, I can bring a little New England funerary beauty to you: This vintage gravestone rubbing was taken from an 1835 monument and features my favorite motif, the weeping willow. Inscription:
In memory of Daniel Crocker, son of Walter and Phoebe W Chipman, who was wrecked and drowned at Port Patrick Scotland by the loss of ship Leon of Boston, February 1, 1835, aged 18 years and seven months
Daniel is buried at Cobb’s Hill cemetery in Barnstable, MA. The gravestone rubbing was done around the mid-20th century and is presented in a newer, dark gray frame. It’s very large: Measures 32” x 28”.
The rubbing is in very good condition and was done on blue paper with gold rubbing wax. You can see glimpses of this blue paper at the bottom of the rubbing. Other than that, the print is in great shape and ready for your wall.

RETURN POLICY
- All sales are FINAL. I strive to provide clear photos & accurate information for every item, & to anticipate any questions you may have. It is the buyer's responsibility to examine these photos clearly & read the description in full before purchasing. If you have any other questions or require further views, you've only to ask.
- No cancellations.
SHIPPING
- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.
Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. You can waive this insurance by ticking the box at checkout, but if you choose to do so, I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. I STRONGLY recommend using the Route service: UPS & USPS are notorious for denying claims, especially if a package is lost or stolen rather than broken. Route only requires you to fill out an online form & they pay out immediately without fuss. I make no money on any insurance premiums collected- The service is provided only for your benefit.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
- We are happy to ship worldwide once again! Be advised that there's no way for us to know on our end what your customs fees, if any, might be: Shopify doesn't calculate or charge international buyers for customs fees at checkout. Customers are responsible for being aware of and paying any necessary customs fees your country may charge. I am not responsible for packages abandoned at the post office due to unpaid fees.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- I do not do "holds," reserves, or payment plans. However, if you need help with financing, many safe & easy options are available to you at checkout, including Shop Pay.
