Very good copy of Milton’s Paradise Lost with illustrations by Gustave Doré. Known for his incredibly detailed and fantastical engravings, Doré is probably best known for this book and Dante’s Divine Comedy. These evocative engravings of angels, Lucifer, and Adam & Eve you’ve probably seen many places, from metal album covers to t-shirts. Bound in dark blue-green cloth cover boards with blindstamped decorations on the cover and spine. Condition is very good overall with some minor signs of age: Cover is split from the textblock about 1” at the top & the pages are a little tanned.
