She’s frequently forgotten today, but Marie Corelli was the most popular novelist of the late 19th century. Her book The Sorrows of Satan, published in 1895, sold more copies than any other book previously published. People definitely resented her for it: Although she was very popular, she wasn’t very well-received by critics: You could compare her to a contemporary figure like Stephanie Meyer. It’s said that when he was in prison, Oscar Wilde quipped, “The way she writes, SHE’S the one who should be in here.” Many of her books feature themes about the occult & mysticism.

This signed photo of her comes to me from the estate of a collector of autographs, mostly actors, authors, and other figures in the arts. Comes in its original envelope. Refer to photos for size and condition.

Shipping Information

RETURN POLICY

All sales are FINAL. I strive to provide clear photos & accurate information for every item, & to anticipate any questions you may have. It is the buyer's responsibility to examine these photos clearly & read the description in full before purchasing. If you have any other questions or require further views, you've only to ask.

- No cancellations.

SHIPPING

- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.

Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. You can waive this insurance by ticking the box at checkout, but if you choose to do so, I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. I STRONGLY recommend using the Route service: UPS & USPS are notorious for denying claims, especially if a package is lost or stolen rather than broken. Route only requires you to fill out an online form & they pay out immediately without fuss. I make no money on any insurance premiums collected- The service is provided only for your benefit.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

- We are happy to ship worldwide once again! Be advised that there's no way for us to know on our end what your customs fees, if any, might be: Shopify doesn't calculate or charge international buyers for customs fees at checkout. Customers are responsible for being aware of and paying any necessary customs fees your country may charge. I am not responsible for packages abandoned at the post office due to unpaid fees.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

- I do not do "holds," reserves, or payment plans. However, if you need help with financing, many safe & easy options are available to you at checkout, including Shop Pay.
