I decided I don’t need two of these: This style of wax devotional craft seems to unique to German nuns; I have never yet seen one from another country but I wouldn’t be surprised if they make them in other Western European countries were Catholics are. This is known as “Kloisterarbeit,” crafts made by cloistered nuns to pass the time or to sell to raise money for their convents. This one has a suggestive shape and contains a profile of Mary. It comes in its original box on which is written, “This is our dear Hanna, 1911.” Very likely from a nun sent home to her family. Refer to photos for size and condition.
