Fotoescultura is a style of Mexican folk art that was most popular from the 1920s-80s but particularly after WWII. They were often made by traveling salesman and each piece is unique: Made from a hand tinted photo or photos mounted to a painted base and then surrounded by a wooden frame. They are very often memorials of loved ones- this one might be someone’s parents. This particular piece came to me from the estate of a local art professor who sold antiques on the side and specialized in folk art from Mexico and South America. It’s very rare to find them up here in New England: Only ever seen them in museums before!
Because they are so rare, I had to rescue it and take it home, even though it’s seen better days. At some point the frame cracked and came loose and was glued back in place. Additionally, there is wear around the edges of the faces. Offered at a lower price as is.

- All sales are FINAL. I strive to provide clear photos & accurate information for every item, & to anticipate any questions you may have. It is the buyer's responsibility to examine these photos clearly & read the description in full before purchasing. If you have any other questions or require further views, you've only to ask.

SHIPPING
- Orders ship once a week. If you need something by a certain date, please let me know before purchasing. I am almost always able to accommodate requests.
Insurance is automatically added to every order for a very small fee, via the service Route. You can waive this insurance by ticking the box at checkout, but if you choose to do so, I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. I STRONGLY recommend using the Route service: UPS & USPS are notorious for denying claims, especially if a package is lost or stolen rather than broken. Route only requires you to fill out an online form & they pay out immediately without fuss. I make no money on any insurance premiums collected- The service is provided only for your benefit.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
- We are happy to ship worldwide once again! Be advised that there's no way for us to know on our end what your customs fees, if any, might be: Shopify doesn't calculate or charge international buyers for customs fees at checkout. Customers are responsible for being aware of and paying any necessary customs fees your country may charge. I am not responsible for packages abandoned at the post office due to unpaid fees.
