All right, so it’s not a corset as such- stays would be a better word. This antique child’s underpinnings looks like a corset, but doesn’t have the boning designed to create a waist reduction. It dates to around 1890-1900 and was hand sewn from soft cotton. There is heavier steel boning in the back on either side of the eyelets and a few pieces of very flexible boning elsewhere. Measures about 9” tall and 8” across the waist. Condition is very good save for a hole under one arm. Overall it’s in very fine shape for its age. A rare treasure.
